My bio
I am a senior attending Baldwin School for Girls in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. As Head Writing Editor of my school’s award-winning literary magazine Roman Candle, and Editorial Writer for my high school newspaper The Hourglass, I'm considered a "literary guru" by my classmates. I am passionate about human rights issues, and writing is my chosen medium of expression. Human trafficking, the oppression of citizens in North Korea and the impact of climate change on the disadvantaged number among my causes. My career aspiration is to become an international human rights attorney.
I was a competitive athlete since the age of seven. I have been a top 30 fencer and a top 25 squash player in the country. Playing at a national level has developed resilience and time management skills that will last a lifetime. For pure enjoyment, I read, write, and train in martial arts—muay thai, kickboxing, and krav maga.
“I am”
Sophia Lee
I am from words, inked carelessly,
Strewn across once-empty pages,
Nostalgia is lost, dreams never ‘waken,
Evanesce yields tattooed forsaken.
I’m from coffee bitter,
But slowly it turned sweet.
I’m from vapid tea leaves, floating
Sinking the longer they’re steeped.
I am from this earth-sodden sky
Where the whispers of stardust condense.
I am from this nowhere from nothing,
Awaiting our midnight permanence.
I am the willow, the raven,
The wisp that lingers, then drifts by,
Silently searching for nothing,
Forever fearing goodbye.
